This is the city block surrounded by Washington Street on the east, Walnut Avenue on the west, 6th Street on the north and 5th Street on the south side. It is the block on the east side of The Square.

A photograph in the possession of the Monroe County History Center shows the west side of this block ca. 1915. Businesses at that time included the Metropolitan Café, Fred Cates, the Olympia Pool & Billiard Parlor, F. J. Dietz menswear, Harry A. Axtell Insurance, and Wiles Drug.
