Samuel Orchard

Samuel Orchard (1802 - ?) was a prominent 19th Century businessman in Bloomington. Along with his brother John Orchard, he started a wool carding operation in 1823 which they ran until 1836. Afterwards, they started a stagecoach line, ran a blacksmith shop, and built the Temperance Hotel on College Avenue and also the Orchard House.

In 1830 Samuel Orchard married Martha McPheeters and they had nine children.
