Five Women Poets

From Bloomingpedia

Five Women Poets is a writing workshop formed in 1974 by Antonia Matthew and Helen May. The women had just completed a class with poet Sandra Gilbert at IU and were reluctant to give up the encouragement and helpful criticism that working with other writers provides.

The actual number of participants has changed from year to year, but the group continues without a break.

In 2004, the group produced a CD, Diamond Celebration, 30 Years of 5 Women Poets featuring its members at that time. A video of the reading is available through CATS in Bloomington. The Five Women Poets have published two chapbooks as a group, and have individual published works. This was their first CD.
