Tri-North Middle

From Bloomingpedia

Tri-North Middle School, located on what is known as "The Hill" or "Pigeon Hill", is a junior high school positioned west of 17th Street. Most students are promoted from Tri-North to Bloomington High School North.

The name derives from the merging of three middle schools that fed into Bloomington High School North. Those Schools were Unionville Middle School, University Middle School, and Dyer Middle School (the school that previously occupied the same building).

Tri-North began its existence in 1984 and spent six years in a wing of Bloomington High School North. In 1990 Dyer was renovated and expanded, and became the new location for the school. May 26th, 2021 was the last day of classes for the Dyer building. A new and expanded Tri-North building was constructed adjacent to the still existing Dyer building, with demolition of the Dyer building following suit. Classes began inside the new building on August 4th, 2021.

Principal Gale Hill retired in 2013 after nineteen years as principal. She had replaced principal Mike Walsh, who retired in 1994.
