The HPER

From Bloomingpedia

Pronounced hy-per, this is the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Indiana University. The building is a wide, spreading two-story bulding facing on 7th Street across from the Indiana Memorial Union. Woodlawn Field, north of the building, is a large open space where students play soccer and other field sports.

The oldest part of the HPER was known simply as the Gymnasium when it was built in 1917 at a cost of $150,000. It is the section at the southwest, near Woodlawn Avenue at 7th Street. Robert Platt Daggett was the architect.
