Maxwell's was Bloomington's local office supplies and furniture store. It provided both supplies and consultation for large offices, but also was helpful for individual students and small businesses by offering single item sales rather than requiring that whole boxes are purchased.

Maxwell's had a stock of most items students need, and would sell, for example, individual pens, large envelopes and folders rather than buying them by the box at competitors. For business customers, they sold and rented photocopiers and other machines, as well had provided a wide range of products. In addition to what was available in store, they would order from their supplier for no extra charge and generally could get any order the next day. With the huge catalog on their website, customers could call for exactly what they want without leaving the office.

Maxwell's was located on S. Walnut, in what is referred to as the Maxwell center. Nearby is the Smith's Sport 'n Shoe, and The Herald-Times building.

Note: Maxwell's also refers to a building between Bloomington and Ellettsville that housed restaurants. See Maxwell's (restaurant building).
