Bloomington Housing Authority

The Bloomington Housing Authority, or BHA, is a public agency with the mission of providing housing for low-income families and individuals in the city. Along with being the administrator for several public housing projects, the agency provides funding for tenants of privately owned properties (Section 8 Housing), and provides various other programs to help low-income tenants stay in homes.

Public housing projects run by the BHA include:

The BHA controls roughly $6 million worth of real estate, and keeps cash on hand of around $2 million. They also have a $2 million dollar long-term loan to support capital improvements. In 2007, the BHA owned more than 300 Public Housing units and over 1200 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.
