Student Recreational Sports Center

From Bloomingpedia
SRSC

The Student Recreational Sports Center, more commonly known as the SRSC around the IU campus, is one of the largest university recreational facilities in the country. The SRSC is funded mainly by a mandatory fee included in the student's yearly payment. As such, students can visit the SRSC at any time, using their student ID.

Overview

It houses five basketball courts, an extensive weight room facility, indoor track, two swimming pools, three multipurpose gyms, eight racquetball courts, two squash courts, nine racquetball/wallyball courts, and a ping pong table (located downstairs by the lockers and lock check-out).

Diving platforms

Of the five basketball courts, courts One and Two are most always reserved for recreational basketball. Court Three is often reserved for volleyball. Four and Five are subject to a wide variety of activities from dodge ball, to basketball, to baseball.

The weight room facility houses equipment needed to build and train the body. The indoor track has a nice mesh laid down for comfort. Several lanes are provided to accommodate all speeds.

The two pools are used for two different circumstances. One is near, if not the same size as an Olympic swimming pool. The other is approximately 20 feet deep and used most exclusively for divers. There are several diving boards, the highest of which is 30 feet.

The Multipurpose gymnasiums are often used for indoor soccer, and the other rooms are self explanatory.
