James E. Counsilman

James E. "Doc" Counsilman (b. 1920) was a swimming coach at Indiana University.

He was a 1996 inductee into the Monroe County Hall of Fame on which his plaque reads "Honors (POST-1946) Perhaps the greatest swimming coach in history, Counsilman coached his Indiana University teams to 20 straight Big Ten Championships and six straight NCAA titles. He also coached the U.S. Olympic swim teams in 1964 and 1976."
