Habitat for Humanity is an international organization that has built over 50,000 houses in the United States and more than 175,000 around the world. As of 2005, they have built 58 houses in Monroe County. The Monroe County branch was started in 1988 on Lindbergh Drive and has had many volunteers since starting, with 748 in fiscal 2005 alone.
