Willy Joe's was opened in 2005 by Taine Watkins. Located at 400 1/2 W. 11th Street near the intersection of 11th Street and Rogers Avenue behind the Upland Brewing Company, it acts primarily as a lesbian bar but has drawn a diverse crowd in its first year. Often called WJ's by those that have come to love it, it attracts people for Friday night karaoke and a host of other events/entertainment. WJ's currently serves only beer and different malt beverages, but is always expanding their food and drink menu based on customer requests. With a great outdoor space, a pool table, and multiple televisions, WJ's has created a relaxed and inviting atmosphere welcome to all.
Willy Joe's opened May 6th, 2005. In less than a year, they have hosted numerous live shows, karaoke nights, and DJ Deelish as a Saturday night staple. Monday nights have drawn crowds when they show 'The L Word' on the big screen and offer cheap beer specials. WJ's also hosted every Sunday for Colts games and was a great place to watch IU basketball.
Willy Joe's closed in 2008.
