Vernal Pike
Vernal Pike is a 7.9 mile long west/east road on the west side of Bloomington. Its western end is outside of Bloomington on Highway 48 past the Monroe County Airport. The eastern end is at Adams Street close to the Stardust Bridge. It is a popular alternate road for people to take to get from the west side to downtown or vice versa.
It is a rather scenic drive west of Curry Pike.
The bridge just west of Curry Pike has been rebuilt. Construction started in April and finished in late July of 2007. The road was closed during this time between Curry and Loesch Road. The road west of the bridge was also repaved and parts of it were closed for shorter periods of time. Traffic was detoured up Curry Pike, Profile Parkway and Loesch Road.
