Talk:Compusource

From Bloomingpedia

Sorry about the bad stub, but I found their address in a search, and wanted to put it in before I forgot. All I remember was they were around in the early 90s. I think I bought 4x1Mb SIMMs there for $166 back in the spring of 93. --Jkonrath 13:13, 22 May 2006 (EDT)

Thanks for starting it. Compusource became PC Max around 1999 I think and their ISP InterSource became Kiva Networking in 1996. PC Max is now located in Eastland Plaza, two doors down (east) from Borders. They have been doing better since they became PC Max, but better is a relative and subjective opinion. John Shireley created an account on here and was going to add some content for these businesses because he used to work at Compusource, Intersource and later Kiva. I guess he hasn't had the chance to contribute it yet. -- Mark 13:58, 22 May 2006 (EDT)
According th PC Max's site, they opened in 1996. I don't know if that was concurrent with the Compusource closing, or if there was a gap or some overlap. I do know the Compusource location isn't the same as PC Max's location, though. Jkonrath 18:02, 24 June 2006 (EDT)
From what I've heard from people who worked there. The owner of Compusource was in debt and bankrupted the company, they reopened as PC Max under the wife of the guy. I had just moved here in May 1996 and Compusource was still open for a few months so it must have been late in 1996 when it went out. John Shireley would have more accurate information about it, or the owner of PC Max. -- Mark 21:57, 24 June 2006 (EDT)
