Talk:3002 E. Third Street

From Bloomingpedia

I might not be thinking of the right building, but didn't this used to be a Hardee's? --Jkonrath 16:24, 2 May 2006 (EDT)

I can't speak for Hardees, but waaay back in the day, we're talking 1982 here; this was the location of Burger Chef. That building was razed long ago. The Schlotzky's was also razed and The Bakehouse was built to order on this same site. Chris 22:04, 2 May 2006 (EDT)
Ok, if you're sure that this was a Burger Chef in the past, then chances are pretty high that this was a Hardee's location afterwords (Reference 4th paragraph). This is the confusing (and interesting) part though, the Hardee's that is currently open on the west side is located at 3301 W. Third Street. Pretty close to being exactly on the opposite side of Bloomington. So they could be confused. I actually asked someone where I worked who has lived here for 30+ years whether there was another Hardee's in Bloomington and she said no, but maybe she never made it to the east side that often. We may have to reference county records to find out for sure. The records at the courthouse are pretty accessable and I found when looking at property records while buying a house that the people there are friendly and helpful. -- Mark 23:07, 2 May 2006 (EDT)
Well, once I get off my dead ass and get down to the library to populate my database I set up, we'll have an answer. My survey goes out into the 3rd St/College Mall area. -Chrobb 23:10, 2 May 2006 (EDT)
I know for a fact there was a Hardee's roughly across the street from the McDonald's that is/was just west of Pete Ellis. It was there when I arrived in 1989, and probably died around 1993 or 1994. From what I remember, the existing building was used for a Chinese buffet or something for a year or two. I know that Schlotzky's bought up other Hardee's restaurants that were discarded when Carl's Junior's parent company bought Hardee's in 1997 and started shedding some locations. (There's one in Elkhart that did the same thing.) My only confusion is that I don't 100% remember the geography there, and I don't know the street addresses, so I might be thinking of like one building over or something. --Jkonrath 10:22, 3 May 2006 (EDT)
