Nebo Ridge Trail
The Nebo Ridge Trail is a USDA Forest Service maintained trail in the Hoosier National Forest. It's approximately 8.6 miles in one-way length. It's open to foot traffic, mountain bikers, and horses. It was created in 1973 by the Students' Committee of the Sassafras Audubon Society.
Nebo Ridge is a moderately difficult hike. The Forest Service warns users that the area has a high number of rattlesnakes.
Getting There
Northern Parking Lot
From Bloomington, take SR 46 through Nashville. Turn right on SR 135 toward Story, Indiana. About 5 miles down the road, when you reach the stop sign in front of the Story Inn, go straight (past the Inn). The road will become gravel about two miles in. There is a parking lot on your left, about 5 miles from the Story Inn.
Southern Parking Lot
The Southern Parking is roughly the same distance from Bloomington as the north lot. Take SR 446 south past Lake Monroe. Turn onto Tower Ridge Road to enter the Deam Wilderness. After about 6 miles, continue straight on 1100 North for another 3.5 miles. Turn left on Pike Road and the lot will be about a 1/4 mile in.
