Mendelssohn Society

The Mendelssohn Society was a group of talented amateur singers, formed around 1875 by Mrs. Lizzie Taylor. Originally rehearsing at the home of Mrs. Taylor, by 1892 the society had grown to more than 80 members and required a rehearsal hall. The society performed more than 30 concerts for charity.
