Henry "Hank" Swain is a Bloomington author and Quaker, with deep roots in Brown County and northern Indiana, where he grew up in a Quaker home, the son of a house painter.
As a conscientious objector during WWII and member of one of the three so-called peace religions (The Quaker, Amish and Mennonite traditions) acknowledged by the United States military, he was sent to a labor camp in rural Oregon.
He has authored works of memoir and poetry, including "Leaves for the Raking" and "Why Now? The Evolution of a Conscientious Objector."
