Daniel Biss

Daniel Biss is a famous young mathematican who currently holds a position as Professor of Mathematics at the University of Chicago. Biss did his undergraduate work at Harvard University then his doctorate in mathematics at M.I.T. Biss is well-known for showing that the tangent bundle of a smooth manifold can be encapsulated in the combinatorial language of oriented matroids. Biss is currently the leading democratic candidate for the State Representative seat for the 17th District in Illinois.

His brother, Jonathan Biss, is a world-renowned pianist whom received his training at the Curtis School of Music. Biss's parents are both violin professors at the Indiana University School of Music.
