Picnic with the POPS

The annual picnic took place around July 4th and had a patriotic theme. Usually attracting thousands of people, gates opened around 5PM and there were children's games and fair-style food available until the official beginning of the concert at 8PM. Traditional pieces included singalongs of patriotic songs, the four military anthems, and Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, which is accompanied by live cannon provided by the local National Guard unit. Fireworks follow the performance.

The picnic took place on June 30th in 2007.
