Wonderlab is a non-profit museum of science and technology for both children and adults, though it offers many displays and activities for young children. It began as a volunteer-based traveling exhibit in 1994 by Debra Kent. In 1998, it set up a small presence on the north side of the downtown square. In 2003, it opened at its current location at 308 W. 4th Street. Exhibits include an "anthill" suitable for climbing; a water table with connectable pipes; a virtual soccer game; a working beehive; a cosmic ray detector; and several unusual musical instruments.
