And we have a winner!

odd fish
You got it in one. I was trying to make it tricky by using a picture from the drained Showalter Fountain. This is actually the odd fish in the fountain, it doesn't match the other fish and has been stolen several times. Most recently during the Knight Riots when Bobby Knight was fired from IU. If I remember correctly, that fish is at like the 10:00 position if 12:00 is due north. It was missing at some point in the late 80s/early 90s, and the pipe was just bent down into the water. In about 1992 they replaced it with that odd one. And is that a recent picture? I was guessing they drained the fountain for winter - it's about that time of year. --Jkonrath 18:09, 14 November 2006 (EST)
This fishy picture was taken in very early 2006. The story goes, as I understand it, that the fish we see there today is actually a spare casting. You notice that it doesn't look like the other fish. The original was installed with the others, but someone absconded with it several decades ago and it was never recovered. This one was a handy replacement that was already cast. It has been stolen at least twice itself and recovered each time. The last time was during the Knight Riots when the fish was taken up to Assembly Hall and "offered" to coach Knight. I seem to remember that he gave it a glance then ignored it. Chris Eller 21:19, 14 November 2006 (EST)
